THE THESIS
The simple version.
Modifi Classics is a research project for people who grew up wanting the cars of 1990-2015. We track why those cars are becoming real classics and publish the Modifi 50: a ranked digital guide to the 50 cars from that era with the strongest case for growing in value.
The machines built between 1990 and 2015 are becoming real classics. The people who grew up wanting them are starting to buy them. The numbers back it up. This is where you see the proof.
-
Fall in love at fifteen.
Nobody picks their dream car at forty. It gets picked for them at fifteen, on a bedroom wall, in a video game, at a stoplight.
-
Buy it back at forty-five.
Twenty five years later, memory meets money. Every generation buys back its own heroes. It has happened with 60s muscle, then with 80s Porsches. Same pattern, every time.
-
That generation is buying now.
The kids of the 90s and 2000s are entering their best earning years today. Their heroes are the cars on this page.
Nostalgia is the engine. Scarcity is the fuel. Clean examples disappear every year.
THE PROOF
This is already happening.

2024
The year R34 Skylines became legal to import to the US. A new model year unlocks every January through 2027.
NHTSA 25-year rule
The question is not whether these cars are collectible. The auctions already settled that. The question is how early you are.
THE WINDOW
It is still early.
Sixties muscle cars did this in the nineties. Air cooled Porsches did it in the 2010s. Both looked cheap right before they were not. The 1990 to 2015 era is standing in that same spot today.
- Supply shrinks every year. Crashes, rust, and parts cars do not come back.
- Import waves keep opening. R34s became US legal in 2024. More icons follow every year.
- The last analog era. Manual gearboxes, hydraulic steering, no screens. EVs make this scarcity permanent.
You are not the only one who noticed.
Every week, cars from this era cross the auction block and beat their estimates. Every weekend, show fields fill with cars that dealers called used ten years ago. The feeling you have about these cars is shared by an entire generation arriving at the same conclusion at the same time.
That feeling has a name now. Modern classics.

THE ANSWERS
Questions people actually ask.
What is a modern classic car?
A modern classic is a car built roughly between 1990 and 2015 that is starting to be collected like the muscle cars and vintage Ferraris before it. The people who grew up wanting these cars are now old enough to buy them, and clean examples are getting rarer every year.
Are 1990s and 2000s cars really a good investment?
The market data says the era is appreciating: Hagerty's index of 1980s-90s cars is up about 70 percent in five years, Bring a Trailer sold $1.7 billion of cars in 2025, and record sales like a $1.985 million Skyline R34 keep landing. Like any market there are no guarantees, which is why research matters.
What is the Modifi 50?
The Modifi 50 is a digital file ranking the 50 cars from 1990-2015 with the strongest case for growing in value. For each car it explains why it matters, what to pay, what to walk away from, and the signs it is about to move. It is a one-time purchase delivered instantly.
How much does the Modifi 50 cost?
The Modifi 50 is a one-time purchase with the price announced at launch. Join The Letter below and you will get the launch price first.
Which cars from 1990-2015 are appreciating fastest?
Japanese icons like the Skyline GT-R R34 and Supra lead the record books, low-production American performance like the Corvette C6 ZR1 now trades above its original sticker, and honest working trucks like the OBS Ford F-250 have flipped from depreciating tools to appreciating collectibles.
When can I import a Skyline R34 to the US?
US law allows importing a car 25 years after its build date. R34s built in 1999 became eligible in January 2024, and the window rolls forward month by month through the 2002 cars in January 2027.
